Justin Bieber & Hailey Baldwin's Courthouse Wedding Was Apparently Her Idea

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin's secret courthouse ceremony took the blogosphere by surprise in September and more details from the city hall affair have surfaced, as per a source close to PEOPLE.

Bieber and Baldwin's ceremony seems to have been the bride's idea because she felt that becoming an official item would cement them as a powerful team. "Hailey is a very bright girl. She's not just blindly adoring Justin and doing whatever he wants. She's wanted to be with Justin for a very long time," the insider revealed. "The city hall marriage was her idea. It was 'you and me against the world.' Let's show [everyone] we’re serious and it’s not just some crazy fling." Preacher and Nyack College faculty member Jeffrey Quinn reportedly officiated their private union on September 13. Josh Mehl, one of Bieber's friends from Churchome in Los Angeles, was the only one to witness the nuptials, TMZ reported. They did not sign a prenup.

Meanwhile, court documents have revealed that Baldwin has filed a trademark on the name "Hailey Bieber" for a clothing line. Per The Blast, the 21-year-old listed the moniker, her maiden name and the abbreviation "HRB3" in paperwork reportedly under her company Rhodedeodato Corp. It's yet another step in taking their romance to the next level. Just last week, the two were spotted house hunting in Los Angeles and even took a trip to check out Demi Lovato's old crib, where she survived an overdose in July.

In a recent interview with Harper's BAZAAR, Baldwin opened up about her life with her pop star husband, admitting that the scrutiny around her public persona is something that she has had to take into consideration. "I've had more attention on me than I’ve ever had in my life," she explained. "It's easy to not think about your mental health or your physical health because you keep pushing, pushing, pushing. Before this year, I wasn't balancing anything."
