Former Shelter Dog Will Star In Disney's 'Lady and the Tramp' Remake

This story is so heartwarming. A former rescue dog is making his Hollywood debut in Disney's upcoming Lady and the Tramp live-action remake. Monte, a 2-year-old terrier mix, will star as the titular Tramp. He may even be cuter than his cartoon counterpart.

Just last year, Monte was living in an Arizona animal shelter. After People shared the first official photos of the dogs starring in the live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp, the staff at his former home realized Tramp was really their beloved Monte. They took to Twitter to share the exciting news.

"Celebrity dog in our midst!" Phoenix's HALO Animal Rescue wrote. "Monte was adopted last year from HALO & originally came from Las Cruces, NM. Monte will be starring as "Tramp" in the new live action Disney movie."

According to CNN, Monte was "beloved among staffers for his good behavior and sloppy wet kisses" at the shelter, which is really all you need from a sweet little pup. The shelter's CEO, Heather Allen, told KTVK Monte was adopted by a group of Hollywood animal trainers. Little did she know, though, Monte would end up in one Disney's most highly anticipated films.

Lady and the Tramp is set to premiere on Disney+, Disney's new streaming platform, some time in November. Justin Theroux will voice the character of Tramp, while Tessa Thompson will be the voice of Lady. When production on the movie wrapped, all the dogs involved in filming found forever homes.
