Angelina Jolie is celebrating a milestone birthday with the people closest to her after making it through a "rough" past decade.
The Maleficent actress turned 50 years old on Wednesday (June 4), and a source close to Jolie shared with People some of the details for how she plans to mark her birthday. She reportedly "doesn't want a big party" and would rather have "a more intimate celebration" with her loved ones, including her six children: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.
The source added the Maria star "seems genuinely excited and happy about turning 50," especially after making it through a turbulent past decade.
"So much of her 40s were rough. She's in a much better place now," the source said. "The kids are amazing and thriving. There is less family drama."
Another source said that the Marvel actress "feels more grounded than ever" as she approached her 50th birthday and that she was embracing aging.
"She's not shying away from getting older, in fact she's leaning into it," they said. "Angie sees aging in a really positive light especially after losing her mom so young. She feels calm, inspired, and she's excited about what's ahead."
Jolie's 40s included a contentious and lengthy divorce from ex-husband Brad Pitt, with the Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-stars separating in 2016 after 12 years together and two years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in December 2024.
