A nurse is being praised for coming to the aid of a baby who stopped breathing onboard a flight to Florida. About 30 minutes into Spirit Airlines flight 1691 from Pittsburgh to Orlando, a baby on the plane stopped breathing and needed medical attention. Meteorologist Ian Cassette from Orlando TV station WOFL was also onboard and reported that three-month-old baby Anjelé stopped breathing and her lips turned purple.

Fortunately, retired nurse Tamara Panzino was also on flight 1691 and quickly came to baby Anjelé’s aid. The 20-year nursing veteran massaged the baby’s chest and legs until she started breathing again. Cassette tweeted a video of the aftermath of the incident which shows the passengers cheering Panzino’s life-saving action. “The parents of three month old Anjelé were terrified and had never experienced this before,” he writes in a follow-up tweet. “They praised the positive energy of the plane and the heroic actions of Tamara for saving her.”

Once the plane touched down in Orlando, an emergency crew met the plane to check out baby Anjelé. For her part, Panzino doesn’t think she’s a hero. "It's not a hero thing,” she says. “It's a community coming together and everyone volunteering to help [with] what their knowledge can do.” And then she adds, “I'm glad I was there."
