Billionaire philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has donated two Beverly Hills mansions worth about $55-million to a California housing charity. In the latest of several high-dollar donations to charity, Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has given away a pair of homes that the former couple bought together. One of the homes, Scott and Bezos purchased in 2007 for $24.4-million and the other they picked up on the same street a decade later for $12.9-million.
This is the second time that Scott has supported the California Community Foundation with a sizable donation. Just last year, she gave the charity organization $20-million to establish a fund to support the arts in Los Angeles.
Amongst the richest people in the world, Scott has pledged to give away the majority of her wealth in her lifetime. In recent years, the 52-year-old billionaire and her current husband, Dan Jewett, have given away more than $12-billion to over 400 charities.
