Last Friday, Kathleen Horrocks was swimming in the pool at their apartment complex in Winter Haven, Florida, and noticed a man struggling in the deep end of the pool. When she saw him sink to the bottom of the pool, the nine-year-old called out for her mom, Crystal Horrocks, for help.

Crystal immediately jumped in the pool and brought the 33-year-old man to the surface and lifted him out of the pool with help from neighbors. She then started CPR, performing two rounds before the man started breathing again. First responders arrived to find him sitting up and breathing on his own, but as a precaution they took him to a nearby hospital where he was later released.

In a news release, Winter Haven Public Safety Director Charlie Bird praised the mother and daughter for their lifesaving heroics, writing, "The swift actions, first by this very alert young lady followed by the quick response of her mother, saved this man's life." The Winter Haven Police took the opportunity to urge citizens to learn CPR and emphasized the importance of water safety.
