Murray High School in Kentucky is celebrating the exceptional achievement of junior Rianna Peng, who scored a perfect 36 on the ACT, a feat accomplished by only about a third of one percent of test takers (0.33%).

Scoring a 32 in 7th grade, Peng, who’s also involved in the school band and multiple clubs, was motivated to study hard to do even better. So she meticulously prepared for the test using an ACT prep book and attended her school’s ACT boot camp. The school's ACT 30+ club honors students scoring 30 or higher on the exam, and Peng is only the second member to score a perfect 36 since its inception in 2019.

High ACT scores can open up scholarship opportunities and college admission possibilities, according to school counselor Toree McMain. Murray Independent School District Superintendent Coy Samons praised Peng for the exceptional accomplishment, and MHS Principal Tony Jarvis says he has “no doubt about her future success!” Despite her amazing achievement, Peng has this advice for other test takers, "A score doesn't define you, just do your best."
