Last week, a commuter at New Jersey’s Newark Penn Station witnessed an act of kindness from a transit cop and felt the need to share the story. NJ Transit Police Officer Sean Gallagher was on patrol in the station when he noticed a woman having trouble. She was trying to get some help from an employee in the station and Gallagher heard her being told “That’s not my job,” so he went to see if he could help her.

Gallagher approaches the woman and asks, "What's wrong, how can I help you?" He notices that the woman has her eyes closed and realizes that she’s visually impaired. She tells the officer that she’s feeling light-headed and would like some help getting some food and coffee. Without hesitating, Gallagher offers the woman his arm and guides her through the busy station to get some coffee and food.

Gallagher says they had a pleasant conversation while he helped her and she expressed gratitude for his help. The NJ Transit Police later praised Gallagher on social media, writing, "We share this act of kindness as a great reminder. Even a small gesture can make a positive difference in someone's day."
