Last week in Austin, Texas, Palash Pandey was taking his cat Tux for a vet visit when his Lyft driver drove off with the cat, still in its pet carrier in the back of the car. Pandey immediately tried contacting the driver through the Lyft app, but wasn’t getting a response, so he turned to social media hoping for assistance locating Tux. He also reached out to Lyft support, but didn’t get any help

After getting the Austin police involved, Pandey finally heard from the driver, who claimed that after checking his backseat, he didn’t see the cat. Pandey returned to social media hoping the community would help him locate his cat and eventually the story caught the attention of Lyft CEO David Risher, who assured the public that Lyft had alerted all drivers and passengers in the area to be on the lookout for Tux.

Lyft announced on social media on Monday that they’d located Tux and he’d been reunited with Pandey. After a visit to the vet, Pandey confirmed that the cat was okay and he thanked the community for their support. Risher personally apologized to Pandey, who is now focused on getting justice for Tux. If the driver left Tux on the side of the road, as Pandey suspects, he wants him to face some kind of consequence.
